Lake Okeechobee Fishing Report

Overall, this week’s weather has knocked the fishing down a bit.  Still caught them pretty
decent, just not smokin’ like last week.  On artificials, the hot baits were a super fluke (on a
weighted hook) and a 4” craw (5/16 oz).  When the water got over 60 degrees a couple
afternoons, we had a good swim jig bite as well.
Didn’t do a lot of shiner fishing this week, but took long time client David Williamson
and his buddy Juan out for a 6 hour day and caught 10 bass including a 6.3 pounder along with a 5.3
and a 5.1.

Tip of the Week!

When fishing a fluke in heavy wind, make sure you are casting with no angle in your line across the wind.  Turn the motor into the wind so that the boat drifts parallel to the wind.  Use a drift sock, or drag an anchor tied to a short line at the boats center.  Make sure you cast STRAIT down wind, and you will be surprised how efficient your casts will become!
